Easter Egg Hunt

Our neighborhood had an Easter egg hunt today that featured an appearance from the Easter Bunny himself. Madeline's too young to hunt for eggs, but she loved seeing all of the little kids up close, loved getting her very own balloon, and wore her new bunny outfit from Grandma for the occasion. Here she is getting ready to go... the hat didn't stay on long.

Here we are outside... again, this hat was on for about 30 seconds.

Here we are meeting the Easter Bunny.

Celtic Festival

Dave was out of town this weekend, and the weather here was gorgeous. I thought we'd try checking out the Celtic Festival. We saw plenty of plaid, and Madeline loved bouncing along to the pipe music. We also saw some sheep at the sheep herding competition. Madeline loves the sheep picture in her nursery and also has a little lamb rattle, but when it came to seeing real, smelly, dirty sheep up close, she was pretty "meh" about it. That's my girl.

I don't know why you say goodbye, I say hello.

On Sunday (9 months and 1 day old) Madeline waved for the first time. Dave was holding her and waving at me in the driveway and I waved back and she watched both of us and just waved along. It was very cool. Since then, she's been waving lots and lots. This clip is from Monday, and cracks me up because she definitely gets what "hi" is but isn't sure about "bye" yet. Every time I ask her to say "bye-bye," notice how she looks around (specifically, toward the door) as if somebody is leaving. She's so smart...

Wednesday fun

These shots are just from yesterday. I love how this one looks like Madeline can levitate that toy like a little magician or a baby Jedi. Actually, she just dropped it as soon as she looked up to see me with the camera, which must have been lots more interesting.

And here she comes to get a closer look.

This one was just cute and I had to include it.

Here Madeline is in her room doing one of her favorite things, which is checking out her noise machine. Also, we've noticed that Madeline's hair looks like it's starting to get lighter, and this picture really picks up the phenomenon.

This one looks like Madeline's doing some crunches, or maybe falling out of the sky, but she really is just tipping backward.

Still Action Sit/Crawl

Here are a few cute pictures from Monday of Madeline getting around her room. This one shows how she likes to pull out her dresser drawer, which is impressive because it's pretty solid and heavy.

Here she is sitting up.

Now she's getting ready to move again.

And she's off.

Sitting in crib

Madeline's learned to sit up on her own, which was a feat she demonstrated two weeks ago in her crib. I heard a funny noise and thought she was pushing the slats with her feet. Turns out she'd pulled herself up to gnaw on the crib frame. This is what I saw... notice the little feet sticking out.

Here she's got some paint on her chin. Our little woodchuck. We lowered the crib after this.

This *should* be a video of Madeline sitting up one of the first times she figured out how to do it. She's just waking up from a nap, so a little cranky still, but also very excited about her new accomplishment.

9-month checkup

Madeline had her 9-month checkup 10 days early last week. She's well into the 95th% for height and weight coming in at 22lbs 7.1 oz and standing (she can stand) 29.33 inches tall. She still impresses everybody with her very good temperment and was glad to escape this time without any shots (the next round isn't until 12 months).

Technical difficulties

Sorry for the delay! We've tried to upload some video of Madeline crawling and sitting up on her own, but for some reason the site hasn't worked lately. So, we'll push on and keep updates coming of Madeline doing her thing in photos.
